Taking the Throne

"Lord Giese" Aryn Pajari said as Kyrell entered into the Council's Chamber. She was an old woman--even in appearances. With much difficulty, she pushed herself from her chair as she continued to speak. "You're not suppose to be here. If you have a problem you wish for the council to address wait.."

"Sit back down, Aryn" Kyrell said, interrupting Aryn much to her annoyance. There was no need for him to wait for her to finish. He knew how it was going to end. It was going to end in the way it always ended whenever someone entered the chamber before the floor had been opened to the public, and that was to tell the person to wait until it actually been opened to the public. "You are going to want to hear what I have to say." Aryn regarded him for a few moments, clearly debating his words, but after a few moments she sat back down, waving off the hands of any that attempted to give her aid. She might be an old woman, but she wasn't without her pride.

Once she was seated, Kyrell walked across the floor of the council chamber before every clan head of the witches--at least the ones created by the goddess Aine. His eyes moved over every last one of them, studying them while they looked back at him, waiting to hear what he had to say. Some of them managed to hide their thoughts while others were an open book. Finally, after what probably seemed to be an eternity, Kyrell stopped in the middle of the room--in a spot where everyone would be able to see him. "I decided I will be King"

The room exploded as soon as those words escaped his lips. Various clans begun speaking  their protest at once, and their voices became louder and louder as they fought to be heard over everyone else. They realized, after a few moments, that this was ineffective and all feel silent except  for one man--Bryce Von. "You tried for kingship once before, Lord Giese, and was denied it" A number of others in the room nodded their heads at these words. "Don't delude yourself into thinking you'll succeed where you once failed. I will not allow it. We will not allow it." Bryce uttered those last words in a hurry, as if he just remembered that he wasn't the only one that had a say in this decision.

"Don't delude yourself into thinking you have a choice, Lord Von." Kyrell told him, keeping his eyes glued upon the other male. "I am your king."

"Over my dead body." Bryce said, standing up from his chair, but before he was half way off his head was rolling upon the ground. His headless body remained where it was for a few seconds before toppling over.

"That can be arranged." Kyrell told the head, which he was holding in his hand. His other hand held the sword that he used to sever the head from the body. He would have preferred the death to be slower, but there are times when a quick death is necessary. "I will be more than happy to arrange the exact same thing for anyone else who wants to continue to protest my claim or..." Kyrell said, placing Bryce's head down upon the table. "I can bring my sister in here, and feed her your souls." He made his way towards the door, allowing his words to sink in. Killing them was one thing, but making it so their soul never returned to the goddess' side again was a completely another. It was a horror beyond horrors. Many of them had been outraged when they had heard about the curse Ansley had inflicted upon him. No one should be denied the goddess, and yet here he was not only threatening to deny them Aine but also threatening to erase their souls from existence entirely. "All I have to do is summon her. She is just outside the door waiting for me to call her name. Kier..."

He didn't have to finish saying her name for Aryn spoke up. "Fine, Lord Giese, we will give no further protest to your claim." The others nodded their head in agreement, but their eyes quickly went to Alexandre Lavoie. They wanted to see how he would react to this announcement. Many had thought that he would have protested the loudest. Since, Kieran's ascension, his claim to the throne was all but assured. It was only a matter of making it official. However, his face showed no sign of anger over something that had been within his grasp being taking from him. This had caused some of them to wonder if Alex knew that Kyrell was going to claim this throne today. The truth was he had. Kyrell and he had a lengthy conversation, and Kyrell promised to implement some of the changes Alexandre wanted if he didn't protest against his claim to the throne.

"Good." Kyrell said, returning to the middle of the room. "Now, before we adjourn for the evening I want to pass my first edicts as king." He moved around the room, taking time to look everyone who was there in the face. "First, I name Alexandre Lavoie as my hand." Many around the room begun to look around. The question clearly written upon their faces. Hand? They had never heard of such a position. "When I am not around. He will speak in my voice, act with my hands and his will shall be my will." The confusion was still written upon their faces. They didn't understand why he didn't say that he and Alexandre were going to rule the witches together. Over the course of witch history there had been more then one ruler at a time--even ones who were from different clans. The confusion died down when several of them decided that he simply didn't want to share the title of king with someone else, and just made up a new position as an attempt to appease Alex. If the former head of the Lavoie was fine with it then they had no reason to protest either.

"My second decree is that Aiyana Lavoie be named head of the Lavoie clan until her father's twins come of age, and pass their leadership test. Next.." He said, giving his words no time to sink in. "I am removing my son from head of Giese Clan." Kieran leaped from his seat, emotions written upon his face. It said it all. He felt betrayed. Kyrell kept his eyes upon his boy as he said his next words. "My son Kieran along with my youngest son Colden will be named patron gods of the Giese clan unless Aiyana wishes to name one as her clan's patron god." The look of betrayal vanished from Kieran's face as he sat down. There were still hurt there for he knew that with those words that Kyrell was official striping his mother of the title of Giese's patron Goddess. "Anesidora, the Giese's former patron goddess, had ascended into an over deity, and as such she has new sets of responsibilities she will need to attend to." His words directed mostly to Kieran as a way to explain his decision. If Kieran wished to discuss it further he would be more than happy to do so.

"Finally, since my middle son Keir has taken the position of head of the Vesela clan I originally wanted to name my.." He paused, uncertain what to refer to Amelie. They weren't lovers. "new friend Amelie Zagurian as head of the Giese clan, but I figured she will not respond kindly to it." That was probably an understatement. Amelie didn't seem the sort that was too keen on politics. "So, instead I name Ansley Morgan and Ciara Blake as head of the Giese Clan."  Like when he declared himself King, the room exploded in a fit of outrage. He simply raised his hand to quiet them down. "My ex wife" He didn't have to say her name, everyone within the room knew whom he was referring to---Anesidora, the same woman he had just stripped the title of patron goddess from. "Had wanted to displace Kieran as clan head in exchange for Ciara. I am only trying to implement some of the changes she wanted." Of course, she had told Kieran that she had only told Ciara that to gain her trust or whatever. Kyrell didn't know the detail nor did he care. The only thing he knew was she had dared made that suggestion. "As for Ansley, I figured if I was going to name one of my son's high priestess as head of the Giese clan I might as well include the other." He didn't say that they would hold that position until Kieran's and Aiyana's unborn child came of age, because to do so is sentence that child to death. He had seen too many name their unborn child as heir only to have that child die at birth. He will not inflict the same curse upon his grandchild. Aiyana and Kieran had done everything in their power to keep that babe alive, and he would not allow his words to undo it all. He looked around the room before dismissing them all.
